Book Review: Autopsy of a Dead Church—12 Ways to Keep Yours Alive by Thom S Rainer

The title alone will make you want to read this book, and the size of it—just over 100 pages—will make it an easy thing to do.  In the process your eyes will be opened to things you should become wary of in your own congregation.  As the man described 14 different churches in various stages of dying, I had no difficulty as all putting a congregation of God's people that I knew on the list.

The greatest benefit will be seeing it before it happens and doing what needs to be done to keep your group from dying.  The greatest difficulty will be making yourself see what you don't want to see.  Things that seem harmless now can become anything but and he will show you how.  Don't be like those people in the Bible who refused to see what was so plainly evident to everyone else.

Autopsy of a Dead Church is published by B&H Publishing Group.
