The inoffensive title of this short (79 page) book camouflages a pile of pithy comments along the lines of those Jesus made to the Pharisees.
"God did not give us local churches to become country clubs where membership means we have privileges and perks."
"For [some], membership is about receiving instead of giving, being served instead of serving, rights instead of responsibilities, and entitlements instead of sacrifices."
"The concept of an inactive church member is an oxymoron. Biblically, no such church member really exists."
That should give you an idea of the kind of things you will read, and truly, if a person can change their attitude about church membership in the ways the author lists in 6 chapters, the local congregation cannot help but change for the better. Each chapter also has study questions, making this ideal for either a personal or class study. There are one or two things you might take issue with, but this almost sounds like it was written by someone like Paul Earnhart or Sewell Hall so there is little to beware of.
